How to use this list: These scholarship opportunities are listed in chronological order, based on their application deadlines. The list includes scholarships that are specifically aimed at Latinos and students with disabilities. The scholarships listed here include scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies. Most of them are available nationwide. If the deadline for a scholarship has already passed, but the scholarship is a good fit for you, follow the link to its website and get more information about it. These scholarships are awarded annually, and you may be able to apply for it next year. This list is meant to be a starting point in your scholarship search. It is impossible to include every scholarship nationwide, and it is recommended that you also use Google or another search engine to search for scholarships for Latinos or based on your disability in your state. For example, if you lived in California and had multiple sclerosis, you could search for "multiple sclerosis scholarship california." It is also important not to limit yourself to these types of scholarships. Other websites like FastWeb list all sorts of scholarships that you can apply for. Project Vision has a Scholarship Search Links page with more links to other organizations listing scholarships. In some cases those organizations list state specific, area of study specific, and disability specific scholarships, while others list scholarships for Latinos or give general advice about obtaining financial aid. It is best to start the scholarship application process early. Some scholarships must be applied for as early as your junior year of high school, though the majority have their deadlines during the spring. When applying for a scholarship, make sure to mail it in at least a week before the deadline to ensure that it arrives on time. Also note that some of them require nominations by school staff or members of different organizations, and that those nominations may be needed well in advance of the final application deadline. 1800Wheelchair.com Scholarship 1800Wheelchair.com is proud to announce our annual scholarship award. Established in 2006, the scholarship fund will award one $500 scholarship to an undergraduate student. The scholarship is open to students of any major or concentration. The winner's name, essay and photo will be posted on 1800wheelchair.com. Although not a requirement, preference will be given to students with mobility disabilities. Lupus Inspiration Foundation for Excellence (L.I.F.E.) The L.I.F.E. Scholarship will be awarded to one or more students in the month of August and/or January every year. Award recipients will receive a minimum award of $500.00 made payable to the educational institution at which they are enrolled for tuition, fees, and other educational-related expenses. Each applicant must be diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and be working towards a degree with a minimum of six credits per semester at an accredited United States college or university. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be involved in at least one extracurricular activity (e.g., performance group, athletics, clubs/organizations, community service, employment, etc.). Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders This $1,000 scholarship is presented at the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute national conference held annually in Chicago. To qualify, applicants must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in a four-year institution in the U.S. or U.S. territories, and demonstrate a verifiable need for financial support. At least one parent must be of Hispanic ancestry. Deadline: December 19, 2008

National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarships The MS Society is offering scholarships to provide between $1000 and $3000 to help with the expenses of: high school seniors with MS, high school seniors who have a parent or guardian with MS, and adults with MS who have never enrolled in a post-secondary institution. Decisions will be based on financial need, academic record and a personal essay discussing the impact of MS on the applicant’s life. Last year, 332 scholarships were awarded for a total of $700,440. Deadline: January 15, 2009
American Architectural Foundation The American Architectural Foundation offers the Minority/Disadvantaged Scholarships in order to encourage diversity and equity in the architectural profession. These scholarships are open to high school seniors and college freshmen who plan to study architecture at a NAAB-accredited program. The scholarship program was established in 1970 by a grant from the Ford Foundation to aid students who would not otherwise have an opportunity to enter a professional degree program. Twenty awards are made per year and may be renewed for two additional years, ideally maintaining 60 students in the program in any given year. Scholarship amounts range between $500 and $2,500 and are determined by evaluation of financial need information provided by the student and the school. Applicants need to be nominated by a high school guidance counselor, architect, or other individual by the first week of December 2008. Deadline: January 15, 2009

Justicia en Diversidad Scholarship The Justicia en Diversidad Scholarship is sponsored by La Alianza, a student organization dedicated to providing support to Latino/a students at Harvard Law School. The goal of the scholarship fund is to promote diversity within the legal field. Each year, an award of $1,000 is given to a Latino college-bound high school student, who demonstrates a strong interest in pursuing a career in law. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and attend an accredited two or four-year U.S. college on a full-time basis. Deadline: February 1, 2008
USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships USA Funds will award $1,500 scholarships to students with economic need through USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships. These scholarships are open to high school seniors, currently enrolled college students or incoming college students who plan to enroll or are enrolled in full- or half-time undergraduate or full-time graduate- or professional-degree coursework at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. GED recipients also are eligible. Fifty percent of the scholarship awards will be targeted to applicants who are members of an ethnic-minority group or have a documented physical disability. The scholarships are non-renewable. Previous scholarship recipients may apply each year for additional awards if the student maintains a 2.5 grade-point average on a four-point scale. Students will not be considered for additional awards if the total amount awarded to the student under this program reaches $6,000. Deadline: February 15, 2009
The Minnie Pearl scholarship is for students with significant (severe to profound) bilateral hearing loss. The amount of the scholarship is a maximum of $2,500 annually and is to be used at any accredited junior college, college, university, or technical school in the United States for four years. The scholarship is only for undergraduates. The scholarship is applied directly to tuition. If the tuition falls below $2,500 that tuition amount only will be awarded. Deadline: February 15, 2008
The Lagrant Foundation seeks to increase the number of minorities in advertising, marketing, and public relations. The Foundation annually provides ten scholarships of up to $2,000 each. Applicants must be high school seniors or undergraduate students majoring in public relations, marketing, or advertising. There are also scholarships for graduate students. Deadline: Applications must be received by February 27, 2009
ChairScholars Foundation Scholarships Available to students in any state, the ChairScholars National program provides deserving high school seniors and college freshmen up to $20,000 for tuition at any college or university of their choice. These gifted scholarship candidates will be future “leaders of America” They are extremely bright, highly motivated students who hold their physical challenge as just one more obstacle to be conquered on the road to a successful life. The support of the ChairScholars scholarship virtually guarantees their success after graduation. It allows them to focus on their education and on making a meaningful contribution to our society. Through the Looking Glass for Students of Parents with Disabilities Through the Looking Glass will award students of parents with disabilities two separate scholarship awards: one for graduating high school seniors who will be attending college, and one for currently enrolled college students. The application packet will be somewhat different than in previous years, and applicants will need to apply online. Deadline: March 1, 2009
American Library Association (ALA) Century Scholarship The American Library Association's annual $2,500 Century Scholarship will fund services or accommodation for a library school student or students with disabilities admitted to an ALA-accredited library school. The scholarship will fund services or accommodations that are either not provided by law or otherwise by the university that will enable the student or students to successfully complete the course of study for a Master's or Doctorate in Library Science and become a library or information studies professional. Deadline: Must be received by March 1, 2008
The Fred Scheigert Scholarship Program The Council of Citizens with Low Vision International offers the Fred Scheigert Scholarship Program. This competitive scholarship is available to full-time college students with low vision, chosen from among those who meet the visual acuity and academic guidelines. For 2008, 3 awards of $3000 dollars were awarded. Deadline: March 1, 2008
American Council of the Blind The American Council of the Blind will present more than two dozen scholarships and awards to outstanding blind students in 2008. All legally blind, full-time students admitted to academic and vocational training programs at the post-secondary level for the 2008-09 school year are encouraged to apply for one of these scholarships. Part-time students who are working full-time are also invited to apply for the John Hebner Memorial Scholarship. A cumulative grade point average of 3.3 is generally required, but extenuating circumstances may be considered for certain scholarships. Applicants must be legally blind in both eyes. Applications may be completed on line, but supporting documentation must be submitted in hard copy print. Deadline: March 1, 2008
RFB&D (Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic) Award Programs The Marion Huber Learning Through Listening Awards are presented to RFB&D members who are high school seniors with learning disabilities, in recognition of extraordinary leadership, scholarship, enterprise and service to others. Offered since 1991, the awards are given to six students who are chosen by a selection committee. RFB&D presents the three top winners $6,000 each and three special honors Winners $2,000 each. Deadline: March 3, 2008 The Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Awards are presented to RFB&D members who are college seniors and blind or visually impaired, in recognition of extraordinary leadership, scholarship, enterprise and service to others. Offered since 1959, the awards are given to a total of nine students who are chosen by a selection committee. RFB&D gives three top winners $6,000 each; three special honors winners $3,000 each; and three honors winners $1,000 each. Deadline: March 1, 2008

Cystic Fibrosis Scholarship Foundation The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Scholarship Foundation (CFSF) is to provide an opportunity for young adults with CF to further their education at a college or vocational school. This possibility is often out of reach for families with CF children because of the high cost of medical care from the time these students were babies. However we at CFSF believe in the future of these young adults, their ability to achieve personal and educational goals, and their importance in making a long-term contribution to society on all levels. Scholarships are awarded based on educational achievement, leadership, and financial need as submitted by the student in the scholarship application form. In the first four years of the program scholarships were awarded to 250 young people from 40 states across the country. Most of the awards given were for a sum of $1,000. Deadline: March 21, 2008
LINC TELACU Education Foundation Each year, the LINC TELACU Education Foundation awards hundreds of scholarships to students in California, Illinois, Texas and New York. To be eligible, you need to be a first-generation college student, be from a low-income family, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and be a resident of one of the four states listed above. The scholarships range in value from $500-$5000. Deadline: March 29, 2008
National Association of Hispanic Journalists Scholarships The National Association of Hispanic Journalists Scholarships offers several scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. These scholarships are open to current high school seniors, college undergraduates and first-year graduate students who are pursuing careers as print, photo, broadcast or online journalists. Each scholarship has different requirements for eligibility. Please carefully review each to determine which ones you qualify for. Students must plan to attend a community college or university that is within the United States or Puerto Rico full-time for the entire academic year in order to be awarded an NAHJ scholarship. Anne & Matt Harbison Scholarship In keeping with the goals of P. Buckley Moss, who struggled with dyslexia during her school years, this grant represents the artist’s dedication to the field of special education. Students with a learning disability often graduate from high school with no recognition of their hard work and perseverence toward achieving their academic, technical, or artistic goals. When a student does attain and surpass expectations, there is often no extrinsic reward or incentive. The Harbison Scholarship is intended to help fill that void. This $1,500 scholarship is awarded to one high school senior with a certified language-related learning difference who is pursuing post-secondary education. It is renewable for up to three additional, consecutive years. Deadline: March 31, 2008
Eric Marder Scholarship Program The Immune Deficiency Foundation is honored to award scholarships to undergraduate students living with primary immunodeficiency diseases. The Eric Marder Scholarship Program is open to patients with a primary immunodeficiency as classified by the World Health Organization and is intended for undergraduate students attending or entering college or a technical training school. Autism Society of America Scholarships The ASA offers various awards and scholarships. Among them is the CVS/All Kids Can Scholars Program, providing a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a qualified individual with autism to be applied toward the completion of an accredited, postsecondary educational or vocational program of study (e.g., college, trade school, etc.). The Jackie Robinson Foundation's Scholarship Program Through its Education and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $7,500 annually to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice. American Federation for the Blind (AFB) scholarships The AFB offers 7 different scholarships for legally blind students entering or attending a college or university. The scholarships range in value from $500 to $2500. They can all be applied for using a single simple application form online at their website. Deadline: March 31, 2008
This $5,000 scholarship is available to students who have a physical or sensory disability. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada who are attending an accredited undergraduate or graduate school in the United States or Canada. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in travel and tourism. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Deadline: April 1, 2009 The Independence Foundation Scholarship was created to individuals with physical disabilities pay for the ever growing expense of college. Hydrocephalus Association Scholarships The Hydrocephalus Association is pleased to offer eleven scholarships to young adults with hydrocephalus in 2008. Salvatore E. Quinci Foundation Scholarship The Salvatore E. Quinci Foundation awards two $2000 scholarships to students with hemophilia or another bleeding disorder that have been accepted into an accredited university, college, or vocational technical school. Scholarship must be used for tuition, books, housings, or other school associated costs. Deadline: April 1, 2008
Christian Record Services Scholarships Partial scholarships are offered to legally blind young people striving to obtain a college education. Scholarships are given on a limited basis to those who qualify. The amount Christian Record Services gives for scholarships varies from year to year. The actual amount given to each student is in proportion to the funds available. For the school year of 2007-2008, we had 23 applications from outstanding and worthy students. We wish we could help all of them, but our budget constraints prevented us from doing that. Ten students were selected to receive scholarships of $500 each, payable in installments of $250 per semester. Deadline: Application must be received by April 1, 2008
Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to students actively working for peace and justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to those able to do academic work at the university level and who are part of the progressive movement on the campus and in the community. Early recipients worked for civil rights, against McCarthyism, and for peace in Vietnam. Recent grantees have been active in the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression; building the movement for economic justice; and creating peace through international anti-imperialist solidarity. Recipients will receive up to $8,000. Deadline: April 1, 2009
The Ralph G. Norman Scholarship fund was established to provide assistance to young adults with learning disabilities so they may obtain success with independent living skills. It provides $2000 dollars in financial assistance. This scholarship is only available to residents of Arkansas. Deadline: April 1, 2008
Soozie Courter "Sharing a Brighter Tomorrow" Hemophilia Scholarship Program For the 2008–2009 academic year, Wyeth will award up to $100,000 in scholarships to students in the hemophilia community, including two $7,500 graduate scholarships, sixteen $5,000 college scholarships, and two $2,500 vocational scholarships. To be eligible for the scholarships, students must have either hemophilia A or hemophilia B and be a high school senior, have a graduate equivalency diploma (GED), or be currently enrolled in an accredited junior college, college (undergraduate or graduate), or vocational school. Patient Advocate Foundation’s Scholarships for Survivors The purpose of these scholarships are to provide support to individuals, under the age of 25, that are or have been diagnosed with cancer or a critical or life threatening disease. The foundation awards ten $3000 awards each year that can be used for college, university or vocational-technical school tuition fees. Deadline: April 14, 2008
Association of Blind Citizens Scholarship Program The Association of Blind Citizens (ABC) will offer ten thousand dollars in college scholarships to legally blind individuals seeking a college degree. The Reggie Johnson Memorial Scholarship will be valued at $2000 and eight $1000 scholarships will be available. Sallie Mae Fund Scholarship Program Opportunities First in My Family Scholarship: First in My Family Scholarship offers scholarships to Hispanic Americans who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at approved, accredited institutions. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000. Apply on-line at www.hispanicfund.org or www.salliemaefund.org. Deadline: April 15, 2008
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Scholarship Awards CHCI offers undergraduate and graduate scholarships of $1,000; $2,500 and $5,000. This premier scholarship opportunity is afforded to Latino students who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who plan to continue contributing in the future. Deadline: April 16, 2009
Elizabeth Nash Foundation Scholarship Program The Elizabeth Nash Foundation (ENF) awards scholarships to assists persons with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees. Grants ranging from $500 to $2,000 are awarded annually. Since the program's inception in 2005, twenty-three individuals have received grants. The Elizabeth Nash Foundation Scholarship program is open to individuals with CF who are in-going or current undergraduate or graduate students at an accredited US-based college or university. Given limited resources, the program is currently only open to US citizens. Funds to support Associate Degrees are not currently available. Deadline: April 18, 2008

Dale M. Schoettler Scholarship for blind students in California Forty-six (46) Scholarships in the amount of $6,500 each will be awarded to legally blind students who are full time students at any California State University (CSU). Applicants must currently have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale during the academic year in which the award is received. Little People of America Scholarships As part of our service to people with dwarfism and the community at large, LPA offers educational scholarships to prospective and current students attending college or vocational school in the United States. Hemophilia Federation of America The Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA) is proud to offer ten educational scholarships of $1,500 each to members of the bleeding disorders community. Applications can be downloaded from our website. Previous scholarship recipients are encouraged to reapply. To qualify, an applicant must have Hemophilia or von Willebrand (VWD) and must be seeking a post-secondary education from a college, university, or trade school. Factor Support Network Pharmacy Scholarships Factor Support Network is pleased to offer two scholarship programs this year. The Mike Hylton & Ron Niederman Memorial Scholarship provides five $1000 scholarships for men with Hemophilia or von Willebrand Disease and their immediate family members. The Millie Gonzalez Memorial Scholarship provides two $1000 scholarships for women with Hemophilia or von Willebrand Disease. Deadline: April 30, 2008
Sertoma Scholarship for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing $1,000 scholarship to cover tuition, books and supplies. The funds may be used for any term, including the summer term, during the awarded academic school year. Student must have a minimum 40dB bilateral hearing loss as evidenced on audiogram by an SRT of 40dB or greater in both ears. Deadline: May 1, 2008
HHS Memorial Scholarship Programs Education is a value that Hemophilia Health Services strives to cultivate. HHS was founded on the principles that “Information is empowering and choices are life-giving.” Education helps us weigh our options and make informed decisions, inspires us to be creative, and moves us to improve the world in which we live. Since 1995, the HHS Memorial Scholarship Program has been awarding scholarships to persons with hemophilia and related bleeding disorders so they can continue their higher education. HHS annually awards multiple scholarships starting at $1,500 for a full academic year. Deadline: May 1, 2008
Toronto Rehab Scholarship in Rehabilitation-related Research for Students with Disabilities This scholarship is available to graduate students with disabilities attending these universities in Ontario, Canada: McMaster University, Ryerson University , the University of Toronto, York University, the University of Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier University. Recipients receive an award of $20,000. Scholarships may be renewed based on satisfactory performance, and if funds are available. The scholarship also provides an individual supplement to help meet special disability-related costs of attending graduate school. This supplement provides funding for educational expenses that are incurred as a result of the student’s disability. Deadline: May 1, 2008
The Epilepsy Scholarship Award is a 1-year, $3000 scholarship honoring 25 outstanding students who have overcome the challenges of epilepsy, been successful in school, done well in activities outside the classroom or in the community, and shown a desire to make the most out of college or graduate school. You may apply for this award if you are under a doctor’s care for epilepsy and in school as a high school senior who has applied to college, as a freshman, sophomore, or junior in college, or as a college senior who has applied to graduate school. Ulman Cancer Fund The Marilyn Yetso Memorial Scholarship was established to support the financial needs of college students who have or have lost a parent to cancer and who display a financial need. This award of $1,000 will seek to honor the spirit, energy, and determination that Marilyn displayed in her life, her love for her family and friends, and in her courageous battle with colon cancer. The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) offers several scholarships ranging in value from $1000-$2000. Alexander Graham Bell Financial Aid / Scholarships The programs run on yearly cycles with deadlines spread throughout the year. Unmet Need Scholarship
High school seniors and college students are invited to apply for the Friends In Art Scholarship for the school year 2008-2009. This $1,500 scholarship is offered annually for achievement, talent, and excellence in the arts. If you are planning to, or are currently majoring in the field of music, art, drama, or creative writing, and are a blind or visually impaired student and live in North America, you may apply for this scholarship. ELA Scholarship The ELA Scholarship program provides financial assistance from $500-$2000 for women with physical disabilities who are in graduate school allowing them to pursue their degree, and develop their leadership role within the disability community. The scholarship awards are based on merit. Each applicant will be required to submit an application that includes the following: an application form, college transcript, two letters of academic recommendation, a disability verification form, and an essay. Paralyzed Veterans of America Scholarship The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) was created to provide some financial reprieve for Paralyzed Veterans members and their families so that they may achieve their goals in the academic arena. Applicants must be either Paralyzed Veterans members, the spouse of a Paralyzed Veterans member, or an unmarried child under 24 years of age who is dependent on the member for principal support. Applicants must also be citizens of the United States, accepted or enrolled as a full-time or part-time students in a degree program at an accredited US college or university, and able to demonstrate academic achievement. California Council of the Blind The California Council of the Blind gives a number of awards to the most deserving blind student applicants residing in California who will enter or continue studies at an accredited college or university in either undergraduate or graduate status. These awards may be granted in two parts (1/2 each semester) upon receipt of proof of registration for each semester. You must be a legal California resident, who is legally blind, to apply. The Jewish Guild for the Blind has created an annual scholarship program for college bound high school students who are legally blind. Applications will be accepted from students at the end of their junior year, with recipients selected and scholarships awarded the following academic year. The GuildScholar Program will award 12 to 15 scholarships of up to $15,000 each. The scholarship is open to people of all religious backgrounds. Deadline: Application must be received by July 1, 2008

National Amputee Golf Association Educational Scholarship Grant One of the goals of our Association is to provide educational assistance to an amputee member or his or her dependent(s). The primary purpose of this grant is to assist an amputee member or their dependent in the payment of tuition and fees while pursuing an undergraduate or two year vocational/technical degree at an accredited college, vocational/technical school or institution. The amount of the grant for a four-year Bachelors' degree will be $2,000.00/year (maximum). If an individual is selected, the grant will be issued each year for a maximum of four (4) years or until graduation, whichever occurs first. For a two-year non-Bachelors' degree or technical/associates degree, the award will be for a maximum of $1,000/year or $500/semester. Deadline: August 1, 2008
Arthur E. and Helen Copeland Scholarships The Arthur E. and Helen Copeland Scholarships are awarded annually to one male and one female member of the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) who is legally blind and enrolling/enrolled at a two-year or four-year or technical institution or university as a full-time student. Applicants must have participated in USABA sports programs. Consideration will be given to students with good academic records, involvement in civic/extracurricular activities, academic goals/objectives and USABA involvement at various levels. Young people who are diagnosed with a life threatening illness experience an agonizing and extraordinary journey, and one common consequence is isolation from their peers. In recognition of Andre’s struggle with this challenge, and realizing that this happens all too often for others, the Andre Sobel River of Life Foundation offers an annual Essay Award to young survivors of a catastrophic illness. This year, several cash awards will be granted; with the first place winner receiving a $5,000 cash prize. Applicants must be between the ages of 12 and 21 as of June 30 and consider themselves cancer survivors or the survivors of a critical or life-threatening illness. Paul & Daisy Soros Graduate Fellowships for New Americans The purpose of The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is to provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields. The Program is established in recognition of the contributions New Americans have made to American life and in gratitude for the opportunities the United States has afforded the donors and their family. You must be a senior in college or a holder of a bachelor’s degree or at present enrolled in a graduate program. Individuals who are in the third, or subsequent, year of study in the same graduate program are not, however, eligible for this competition. Each year the Fellow receives a maintenance grant of $20,000 (paid in two installments) and a tuition grant of one-half the tuition cost of the US graduate program attended by the Fellow (up to a maximum of $16,000 per academic year). Central Intelligence Agency Undergraduate Scholarship Program The Undergraduate Scholar Program was developed, in part, to assist minority and disabled students, but application is open to all students who meet the requirements. The program offers unmatched experience. You'll complete work sessions during each summer break, increasing your knowledge and job responsibilities while assisting intelligence professionals and applying your academic skills. Once selected, recipients will be given an annual salary; a benefits package that includes health insurance, life insurance, and retirement; and up to $18,000 per calendar year for tuition, mandatory fees, books and supplies. They will be required to work at an Agency facility during summer breaks and to maintain full-time college status during the school year with a minimum cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA.We will pay the cost of transportation between school and the Washington, DC area each summer and provide a housing allowance.
